GMC 1500 Towing Camera Set-Up

To set up the GMC 1500 Transparent Trailer Camera for towing in West Palm Beach, your truck must be equipped with these accessories and packages:

  • Technology package
  • Primary tailgate camera
  • Accessory trailer camera
  • Conventional hitch type trailer with a max length of 32 feet

You’ll need to follow the camera’s mounting instructions, which means affixing one camera to the back of the trailer and the other to the hitch. Your truck’s infotainment screen provides the prompts you require, such as asking you to input assorted component dimensions, including:

  • Center of the coupler to the furthest rear point
  • Center of the coupler to the middle of the tires
  • Left edge to right edge of the trailer
  • Center of the coupler to trailer front wall
  • Hitch receiver to the center of the ball
  • Ground to the tallest point of the trailer
  • Ground to top of the coupler

After adding the required measurements, you’ll need to drive your truck slowly in a straight line. This allows your truck system to automatically calibrate the camera. To ensure a successful calibration, do not drive over 31 miles per hour on a smooth, flat road. Do so in sunny weather since rainy and overcast conditions in Fort Pierce or the surrounding areas affect calibration.
