Elevation: the well-equipped starting point. It has the 5.3L V8, a 16.8-inch display with Google built-in, 20-inch wheels and seating for up to 8. Rear-wheel drive is standard with 4WD available, and the 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel is available if you tow often or want better fuel economy.
AT4: built for unpaved roads and weekend trips. Standard 4WD, Magnetic Ride Control, all-terrain tires, a high approach angle front fascia with a skid plate and red recovery hooks give it more capability off the pavement. Denali: comfort and technology. The 6.2L V8 is standard, along with Pearl Nickel wheels and a Bose audio system with Centerpoint surround sound. For 2027, Super Cruise is standard on the Denali, and a 15-inch head-up display, Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension and 22-inch wheels are available.
AT4 Ultimate: off-road capability with luxury. It pairs the 6.2L V8 and 4WD with standard Super Cruise, standard Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, a Bose 18-speaker system and seating for up to 7.
Denali Ultimate: the top of the lineup. It adds 24-inch After Midnight Metallic wheels, Super Cruise, standard Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, a Bose 18-speaker system and a standard rear-seat media system, with available second-row executive seating.
The Yukon has been in its current generation since the 2021 model year, so a 2026 and a 2027 share the same design, engine lineup and 10-speed automatic transmission. These are the differences worth asking about:
The GMC Yukon Elevation, AT4 and Denali seat up to 8 passengers, and the AT4 Ultimate and Denali Ultimate seat up to 7. Available second-row captain’s chairs also bring the seating count to 7.

The Yukon offers a 5.3L V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, a 6.2L V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft, and a 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel with 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft. Every engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 5.3L is standard on the Elevation and AT4, the 6.2L is standard on the Denali, AT4 Ultimate and Denali Ultimate, and the Duramax is available on select trims.
EPA combined ratings for the 2026 Yukon are up to 17 MPG with the 5.3L V8, up to 16 MPG with the 6.2L V8 and up to 23 MPG with the 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel, and ratings vary by drivetrain. The AT4, AT4 Ultimate and Denali Ultimate come with four-wheel drive as standard. The Elevation and Denali come with rear-wheel drive, and four-wheel drive is available on both.
Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance is standard on the 2027 Denali, AT4 Ultimate and Denali Ultimate, with a 3-year OnStar One plan, and available on the Elevation and AT4 through option packages. GMC says it is compatible on more than 200,000 miles of roads in the U.S. and Canada, and the driver must stay attentive and ready to take control. After the included connectivity ends, a Super Cruise plan must be purchased.
The Yukon offers 25.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, 72.5 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 122.8 cubic feet behind the first row. The GMC Yukon XL offers 41.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 93.6 behind the second row and up to 144.5 cubic feet behind the first row.
